- Thanks. Your answer was about what I expected, but it's good
- to have the uncertainty removed.
-
- I've been shopping around for a combination fax/answering machine but
- all the ones I've found are very bulky. AT&T used to make a fairly
- compact one but stopped. If you have any suggestions let me know.
-
- I don't want to leave my computer on all the time because it makes too
- much noise. The monitor does power down but the disk and power supply
- fans keep spinning. Also, I don't want to have to run USR software on
- it, since that software probably requires DOS/Windoze. I run Linux so
- in order to use the Sportster Vi, it sounds like I'd have to buy an
- additional DOS computer and dedicate it to the modem. That's not what
- I call having a modem replace an answering machine.
